Dirt bike riding can be one of the most thrilling and rewarding experiences for anyone. The speed, excitement and challenge of riding are a favorite activity for many people introduced to riding for the first time. Riders that began as kids have continued to enjoy riding throughout their lives all the way to adulthood.

Before buying a dirt bike you might want to consider following these tips so that your first time experience is the best possible.

First, consider the riders age if looking to purchase a dirt bike for a youngster. With the advancement of dirt bike technology, safety equipment, and riding organization, riders are getting younger and younger every year. Some riders step up to their first dirt bike before they have graduated kindergarten these days! This would have been unheard of a decade ago. You are the rider’s parent and you know better than anyone if the youngster is mature enough to begin riding. Take some time and look at the type of riding they are interested in, and if they are mature enough then go for it, but if they are not, then it is best to wait until they are mature enough.

Second, consider the size of the bike. It is important to fit the rider to the bike so that the machine can be handled properly, and safely. A dirt bike will be subjected to many twists, turns, and bumps. So having the right size bike for the rider is crucial. A rider should not “grow” into a dirt bike. So, getting one that is bigger than it ought to be can be dangerous. Also the physical maturity of the rider should be taken into account when considering the amount of horsepower the dirt bike will have. Fitting the rider to the bike entails having a dirt bike that is the right height, weight, and horsepower for their physical stature.

Third, look into safety equipment. All riders must wear the proper safety equipment if dirt bike riding is going to be safe, and injury-free. Setting down the rule that safety equipment must be worn at all times, no exceptions, is a good method for getting your young rider in the habit early on. There are going to be incidents where your young rider is going to take a spill, or run into other riders and objects – this is to be expected. With the proper safety and protective gear, riding injuries can be minimized or completely avoided.

Finally, getting the proper rider training is very important. Most experienced riders will tell you that there are two things that helped them become good riders; experience and training. Experience of course will come over time, and a lot can be learned along the way, but it is a good idea to allow your youngster to learn the basics from someone who already has ample experience. Letting your youngster learn as they go might be fine for some, depending on their age, but it is not the best approach for learning how to ride properly. Training will provide your youngster with the basic riding skills they need, and these skills will serve your young rider well their entire riding career.

Find Useful Information About How To Choosing Racing Bike

November 1st, 2009

If you are looking for the right Scooter, check out the hot deals at  Urban Scooters  .

We all know that these days there are many different types of bikes available in the market. Some are mountain bikes, meant for the purpose of off road biking sports while other are BMX and pavement or the road bikes as they are called.
If you are interested in racing bike, you will need to learn some things about the bikes before making a decision as to which one to purchase and race. There are a few different kinds of racing bikes to choose from. They are standard, time trial and track racing bikes.

The standard bike is the most common. This type is perfect for road riding. The rider will be positioned hunched over the bike, however it is high enough that they can still see where they are going. These bikes are extremely fast. The next type of racing bikes is the time trial bike. These bikes are designed to go incredibly fast while making turns on an a circuit or oval on a closed road course. Much like the standard bike, the rider is hunched over the bike, however, they have the option of adding extensions on the handlebars for comfort and to get a better grip.

They can also attach smaller front wheels to change the riding position to a lower position than usual. The last type of racing bike is the track racing bike, this is used indoors on oval circuits. These have a single fixed gear with no brakes.

All of these racing bikes are made as light as possible. The lighter the bike, the faster it will be able to go. These bikes are also equipped with slick tires which offer very little drag on the road surface, also assisting in maximum speed. The aerodynamic design of the bike and the riders position lends itself to the least amount of wind drag possible. All of these design points do have their drawbacks. Because the bike is stripped down to only necessities, it can be extremely uncomfortable to ride. In addition, because of the position the rider is forced into, they may experience back, neck and wrist pain. Since the tires are so slick and thin, they do not protect from vibration and can cause discomfort for the rider.

No matter what type of racing bike you are looking for, make sure that you do some research before purchasing. Talk to other racers that you may know and see what types and brands they recommend. Once you have narrowed it down, head to a store and try them out. If you know exactly what you want, you may be able to find it cheaper on the internet. However, be sure that you have tested out that specific type of bike before purchasing.
